It's amazing how many people you meet when you live as a foreigner in a very racially homogenous country. Six months ago, Louise was out an about when she ran into Stevie the great and her friend (I have never met the other girl). Stevie was here as a volunteer nurse as she wanted some experience before heading to uni. Anyhow, Stevie has been out and about and she had such a great time she almost cried when we went out for drinks at the Hub.
Speaking of drinks, we found some gems in the menu. The first was a regular item on the menu called the Tower Beer. It's a liter of draft metered out into a 1000ml graduated cylinder. I told Sarah I'd buy her one if she'd chug. The waitress asked me how many glasses I wanted, and I thought about asking for none, but decided on at least one. So Sarah ended up chugging the first glass of three. Good deal for beer drinkers at 1400yen.
The other find was the Football Cocktail. They had a menu of special cocktails made in plastic take-out container. Yes, you heard it correctly... a take-out container. The sad part was that they only had a select few flavours you could get. We wanted Baileys and milk but they only had Kaula and milk. Sarah had even come up and asked in very good Japanese, but no dice. So it was like a double cocktail for 880yen. Not so bad.
So here's to Japan and drinking in public. We were waiting for the train and Jamie sat down with drink in hand and enjoying the freedom of getting tipsy in the station.

OMG! Richard you darling, I never thought I was special enough to make it into the pages of your glorious blog! I've had to deprive myself of your rantings lately because I knew seeing pics of everyone in Soire would make me sniffle, and sure enough Louise's v-sign brought a tear to my eye.
Thankyou :)
Stevie xxxx
