Sometimes I can't tell. One thing about being a elevated peon is that you are responsible for giving bad and good news to the people in your group. Luckily I have a great group of instructors. I know of other elevated peons who have some real delinquents. These guys do enough so they are still in the bottom end of acceptability and won't get fired easily.
The other reason is that Sakamoto exists. He is one of the best guys I know anywhere. He took time out of his busy day to bring me to the hospital. He brought me a bento box there. He stayed to translate, which was good because they had no English speaking doctor at that time.
He even drove me around to deposit some money into my post office bank account and helped me pick up my prescription.
To top it off, today Sakamoto picked me up from the station and drove me home. He also came up and asked if I was okay for food. He looked in the fridge and nodded as I asserted that I could make some rice and blah blah blah. I was washing some dishes when I heard a knock at the door. Then I heard him say, "Hello. It's Sakamoto". When I let him in he brought a bag full of food. He brought over some bread, bananas, and some pasta to go for tomorrow morning. He had the I knew it look when he saw that I was making ramen. Mind you I was going to throw in some steamed vegetables into the ramen to make it healthy. What a great guy! What's even better is that he's fun to have around, especially when stripper poles are involved.
Anyway. He is one of the biggest reasons why I think God likes to test me now and then.

You have GOUT!! Seriously, the unknown heart disease/problem in the family and now the possibility of gout...wow. I wouldn't say God dislikes you but definitely you got some bad karma. Hopefully through this excruciating experience, good karma will help you big time :)
wow...gout...sorry your situation reminds me of King of the Hill when Bobby got gout from eating too much liver and onions :P
Would you say this is worst then getting lice so close to your wedding day?
What heart problem in the family??? That's not good. I've been telling doctors I have no history of disease in the family.
Oh Bobby! Liver and onions will do it!
Lice in our hair was a way to test Jamie. I had short hair so getting rid of lice was easy for me.
So I'm consciously drinking more water to help the old kidneys to process the excretion of Uric Acid so I can get more liver and onions...
Actually it wasn't heart disease but more or less family members tend to die in their sleep...sorry :P I don't think that one is much better.
mmm...liver and onions..
Sorry to hear about the Gout. If you need a hand with anything, give me a call.
BTW, Sakamoto is a god. Check out Osaka-daze in a few days to see why...
