Sometimes I get strange urges to do odd things. Like make a photo journal of my walk home from the station.
First I take the Sennichimae subway to Kita Tatsumi station and take exit #4. When I reach the top of the stairs I just walk straight. The Yoshinoya beckons me forth.
I look down the road and I can see the Family Mart far in the distance. If I look to my left I can see the Jolly pasta. Mmmm. Jolly is alright, but more expensive than the Saizeriya and not that much better.
After passing the Family Mart I keep walking and encounter a fugu restaurant. I've never been inside but it looks alright.
After a few more steps I can see the Ichiban Yakinikku restaurant. It's Korean style BBQ. You get plates of thinly sliced meat and cook it over a open fire(gas) at the table. You can also get other stuff to roast as well. After the restaurant I cross over the Hirano Canal. It's not that interesting to look at but at least it isn't ugly or overrun by weeds.
Once over the canal I can see the pedestrian walkway that spans across Katsuyama-dori, the main road that runs from the station and past our place. You can see the rollershades of the businesses closed for the night. Here you can see a closed shoe store.
On the other side of the street I can see the ROHTO building. They make a buttload of different things. Apparently they're not Japanese (as indicated by the Katakana under the name). A little farther I pass by another Fugu restaurant.
Getting close to home I reach the Meshiya. It's the equivalent of a greasy spoon in Canada, like Denny's or Whitespot. After passing the Meshiya I look up and see the @Interior sign. This is a little furniture shop with some nice stuff. It's also the sign that tells me to turn right at the next side street.
Turning down a street like this in Canada would lack prudence, but in Japan it's pretty safe. You can see the rental storage lockers people use to store cars and such.
If you have a car to park, call these guys and they'll hook you up. After walking a little farther I can see the Izakaya on the way to my house. It's always rowdy when I pass by on my way home on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night... when I come home earlier.
This is the last major intersection before my place. I always look up to the left and look into the mirrors to see if cars are approaching. I can see them but they probably can't see me. But, it's not that busy so no worries.
I walk through the intersection and keep walking. When I see the no parking sign and the speed limit sign I know I'm almost there!
I look to my left and I can see the Izakaya on the ground floor of my apartment building. It is a small Izakaya that serves snacks and drinks. It also has the old style Karaoke system, where you look in a book and write down the numbers to queue up the songs.
Finally, after about 15minutes of meandering, I make it to my doorstep.
