Canada - Jan18

Today was the day that we had reserved to visit with Grama and Lana. In the morning we spent some time with Grama. We made some grilled cheese sandwiches, drank some tea and talked. I think she enjoyed the opportunity to talk with someone as her house mates(her daughter, grand daughter, grandson-in-law, and great grand kids) don't spend much time talking to her.

For the past few days now it hasn't snowed in the Okanagan, which was fine by us. This afternoon it changed and we got dumped on. The scene outside the window was very postcard-esque, but it made for terrible driving. Being as Grama's house mates were not known to shovel the driveway, I volunteered and shovelled it for her. It reminded me why I don't live in a place with snow.

Next on the agenda was meeting with Lana. We had made some plans to go out for dinner and then dancing. The problem was that the Kelly O'Bryan's family restaurant was full and we needed about 20 seats. The bad weather was to our advantage as some of the reservations cancelled. Things were a little touch and go as we encountered little setbacks at each step of the way. Our reservation was split up into 3 groups as the place would not accept a large group as they already had one. The weather which had helped us was also a hindrance as Lana couldn't drive to Vernon to pick up some ESL students. They took the bus instead and she was to pick them up there. A surprise was waiting for her outside in the form of an idiot's truck which had boxed her in. Was she pissed! Unfortunately I missed the confrontation with the neighbour. I went in another car.

It all ended well as we made it to the restaurant in a reasonable time and everyone fit. I decided I was too old for the bar and headed home early. The girls wanted to have fun so I'll see them when they get home at 2AM or 4AM or whatever.
