Adelle and I have this hiking plan so that we can stay in shape. Last time we were to climb Fushimi Inari but the typhoon hit. Well, we read the weather reports the night before and it was supposed to be crappy but the typhoon missed Osaka and it was actually sunny. We went to a hot rock spa place which was nice but missed out on Fushimi. This time we planned to go rain or shine. We even convinced Ikuyo and Jamie to come along.
The four of us took the Express Keihan train from Osaka to one near Fushimi and then after a transfer to a local train we made it. We stopped to have a bite at a cafe and walked to the Torii. Before heading up the mountain we had to pass through the shrine.
It was a nice stroll but it was like many of the other Shinto shrines so we got a few pics and continued to the path of Torii. The other common theme at this shrine was the presence of foxes. They were all over the place at the rest stops and along the path. On the way up we managed to get some really cool shots. There was a couple of rest stops and each had their own look and feel. At the main stop we made an error and chose the wrong path. We got a panoramic view but we had to hike down and back up a steep incline. Adelle and I liked it though because it was a hike after all.
After the hike up the steep part we made our way through the proper trail. We reached the top of the mountain soon after and had a rest and ate some ice cream. Since the path was paved all the way through the walk was pretty easy. The mosquitoes were terrible though. We had to constantly use the repellent and the after bite anti-inflammatory spray. Throughout the walk we met a few cats. Jamie of course made friends with them.
Getting lost was the big event of the day so when we came to another point where getting lost was highly likely we asked for directions. After some uncertain walking, as our direction giver was also lost, we did make it out. Some cool things happened on the way to the train station, like seeing a guy riding his bike with his cat on a leash on his shoulder! The trains were even painted in a Thomas the Tank Engine theme. Cool!
