Namaze

This week's hike with Adelle took us to JR Namaze station. She got the idea from a local English magazine and so we set forth for a 5km hike along an abandoned railway track. The magazine had mentioned the scenic path and some tunnels.

There were five major tunnels along the way and it said we should bring some lanterns or torches. In preparation I went to Mr. Japan and got a head torch(head lamp) and bought extra batteries. Luckily the torch and my camera take AA batteries. It was while shopping I learned how to identify battery requirements for items. It's nice to know the kanji as it makes it easier to see what goes in the device.

When we go to the station the sky was menacing and it started to sprinkle down. It felt nice as it was really hot. Unfortunately it didn't last long and the sun came out with a vengeance. That said, the sun brought blue sky with it and good lighting for photos. Actually the photos tended to be overexposed because it was so bright. Often times I had to switch to spot metering to adjust the exposure levels to get a proper picture.

Alongside the path was a river. Well, actually a gorge with a river at the bottom. It was so hot that we wanted to get down to the river and have a splash. The long way down was a little disheartening. We thought about it a few times but the worn ladders looked a wee bit dangerous.

We did manage to get some good pictures today of various things. We saw the river, the tunnels, the light at the end of the tunnels, a cool looking bridge and a great blue sky with puffy white clouds. By the end we were exhausted but glad to have hiked the trail. It's amazing how the heat saps your energy.
